Bali Bird Park

The Bali Bird Park opened in 1995 and soon became one of Indonesia’s most famous bird parks. It is now home to a wide variety of local and international species of birds.

The Bali Bird Park features birds from Indonesia, South Africa and Latin America and 2000 tropical plants. Take a tranquil stroll through the Bali Bird Park for close encounters with these graceful birds. There is also a particular area for Komodo dragons!

The Bali Bird Park has an area of about 2 hectares. The park is home to around 1,000 birds from 250 different bird species from Indonesia and other regions like Africa, Latin America, and Australia.

The Bali Bird Park also aids to protect and conserve Indonesia’s endangered wildlife. It has successfully bred many bird species, including the rare Pesquet’s Parrot and Bali Starling (jalak Bali).

Aside from birds, you can also see various tropical plants, amounting to approximately 2,000 species. This bird park is indeed a utopia for bird lovers.

The Bali Bird Park plays a crucial role in Indonesia’s avian preservation, conservation, and breeding efforts. More than 40 species of protected Indonesian birds are found in the park. Many are successfully bred for release, including the endangered Bali Starling and rare Pesquet’s Parrot.

The birds exhibited are Indonesian owls, Toco toucans, birds of paradise, Australian pelicans, and the Congo grey parrot. Habitats represent South America, South Africa, Borneo, Sumatra, Java, Papua New Guinea, and Bali — and there’s also an owl house.

The park’s territory is divided into seven parts, each representing the environment of all these regions.

You will be surprised by the striking colours of the South American red ibis. The orange Amazon from the forests of Venezuela and the African purple turaco. Observe the predatory Kaffir raven and the frightening coucal. And, of course, admire the red-crowned cranes, beautifully magnificent birds that seem to have appeared from the illustrations to the collection of oriental fairy tales.

You will also see crocodiles, turtles, snakes, Komodo dragons and iguanas. The most fearless can see a crocodile having a live chicken for lunch. There is also a sizeable ornithological research centre on the park’s territory.

The lush grounds are populated with free-roaming peacocks and toucans. A Free Flight Bird Show displays the abilities and antics of birds of prey and other winged creatures. There are interactive feeding times when visitors can participate in the feedings of tame, colourful species while holding and touching the birds.

At the Bali Bird Park, you may experience feeding the Komodo dragons. There’s also a ‘4D Avian Theater’ screening of an animated children’s movie about ducklings.

The Bali Bird Park has a large restaurant, a snack bar, and a souvenir shop. The traditional Kecak fire dance also has regular performances at the Bali Bird Park.
