KINABALU NATIONAL PARK TOUR
Kinabalu Park
Kinabalu National Park is Malaysia’s first UNESCO World Heritage Site located in Kundasang, Ranau. It is floristically fantastic with an estimated 5,000 – 6,000 vascular plant species and identified as a globally important Centre of Plant Endemism. Set at 1,500 metres above sea level, this 754 square kilometre park features one of the tallest mountains in all of Southeast Asia as its centerpiece, Mount Kinabalu– rising at 4,095 metres with cloud-hugging peaks that catches breaths, enchants eyes and shading valleys below. Certainly a sight to behold from Kinabalu National Park. Also within the park, restaurants amidst lush montage forests, a botanic garden boasting plant species endemic to Mount Kinabalu as well as nature trails varying in length.
Sabah Tea Garden
This Sabah Tea plantation is filled with rainforest trees and organic tea leaves growing side by side. Activities include a tour of the tea plantation and tea factory where visitors are given a detailed explanation of tea cultivation, harvesting, processing, packaging, and brewing. There is also an on-site restaurant with delicious tea-infused desserts and local cuisines where you can indulge at your own expense.
Poring Hot Springs
This little Nature Reserve is the perfect place for a more relaxed jungle experience with its canopy walkways and warm therapeutic sulphur hot springs. Within the nature reserve, see the treetops like the orangutans do. Poring’s canopy skywalk invites you to witness the grandeur and glory of a 100 million year old rainforest from a 105 metres length walkway suspended 30 metres above unspoiled flora. Besides the various nature trails snaking through both the forest floor and amidst treetops, the park also features a beautifully landscaped garden hosting Poring’s best known tonic for mind and body— mineral-rich hot-springs bubbling from deep in the earth. Additionally, you may explore other attractions such as the Butterfly Farm and Tropical Garden, at your own expenses.
Desa Cattle Farm
Take a walk around the Desa cattle farm, one that produces about 900,00 litres of milk per year. The farm is 199 hectares and most of the milking cows are Friesians, the highest milk producers of all cattle breeds. You can participate in activities such as feeding the calves with bottled milk or feeding goats with grass, and enjoy a fresh milky ice-cream at your own expense. Then watch and learn how milk is processed through the milk processing tour. Before leaving, don’t forget to get some souvenirs, especially the popular dairy products like Desa Cattle’s milk in a box.
Paragliding Site
Tandem Paragliding at Lohan, Ranau – Ranau is a town and district east of Kota Kinabalu and west of Sandakan. Its name is derived from the Dusun language ‘Ranahon’ to mean paddy fields. It is a cool hilly region with mountainous views all around making it the perfect setting for paragliding scenery. Together with an experienced pilot, you will take off from a high point in Lohan and paraglide for 20 minutes soaring up above mountain trees to observe the land below, seeing paddyfields and villages.
