SERIKIN BORDER WEEKEND TRADE MARKET
Serikin is a tiny little village near the Malaysia-Indonesia, a 65 km (1 ½ hours) drive from Kuching city. During the weekends, traders from both sides of the border come to the Serikin Border Trade Market to sell their wares. You can find authentic Indonesia handicraft, household items and food ranging from vegetables and fruits to seafood and meats.
Take a stroll along the stalls of the Serikin market and you will definitely find some hidden gems. Anything from antiques to wild ornamental plants and local delicacies are available at hard to beat prices. For the fashionistas, batik fabric from the two culturally different nations of Malaysia and Indonesian and the Sarawak native traditional costumes will surely catch your eye. You will also find unique musical instruments, leather goods, cooking appliances and even ráttan furniture.
