Muay Thai Knockout

Experience with your eyes the Real Thai Boxing Fights at Muay Thai Knockout, Asiatique Riverfront and enjoy seeing 5 thrilling matches with 3 rounds each. In addition to local Thai fighters, Muay Thai fighters from all over the world are selected as well to fight in the arena.

Muay Thai or Thai Boxing is the national sport and cultural martial art of Thailand. Though developed several hundreds of years ago as a form of close-combat that utilizes the entire body as a lethal weapon, its definitive origins are still debated by modern scholars. One thing that remains is the competitive spirit and high regards the Thai locals hold for it. In this Muay Thai Knockout, you will be able to catch a glimpse of how it is an important part of the Thai culture. Knowing a little bit about its history gives you an insight into the Thai culture and their way of life.

You will enter a spacious air-conditioned stadium that comprises a main stage for the fight. Before the the fighting begins, you will spectate a 10-minute performance of Wai Kru Ram Muay, a traditional Muay Thai dance ritual composed of two parts, the ‘Wai Kru’ and ‘Ram Muay’ with traditional Sarama or Muay Thai music in the background.

As a whole, the Wai Kru is a way to show respect to the Muay Thai coaches, gym, training partners and family. During the performance of Wai Kru, you shall witness the Muay Thai dance where the fighter circles the ring 3 times before kneeling and bowing 3 times to show respect to God and men. Then you shall gain the pleasure of viewing the Ram Muay, where the fighter demonstrates simple or complex movements to showcase their style and control. What makes this special is that each Ram Muay move is personal and unique, and that it shows the fighter’s individuality. The Wai Kru Ram Muay in its entirety is graceful and mysterious, and it’s one of those things you truly need to see in the flesh to really appreciate.

Then you shall witness the dazzling display of Muay Thai moves between 2 Muay Thai fighters, in each match. As you witness the moves, follow the story behind this martial art that can be traced back to the days of ancient Siam. Seeing the kicks and punches flying in, feeling the hypeness from an enthusiastic crowd, and also a little band playing Thai traditional music in the corner – the repetitive and percussive beat that plays throughout the bout sure sets a rhythm for the matches, making the Muay Thai Knockout experience a real knockout (no pun intended)!

All in all, it’s a different way to spend an evening in Bangkok, Thailand if you want to soak up a little bit of the local Thai culture without the usual shopping and eating. It’s certainly an experience if you are in search of something thrilling but intriguing. Muay Thai, through the exhibition of the performers, is no longer just a sport – it became a crucial part of Thai tradition and national pride. Spending 90 minutes for such a fascinatingly unique experience in your life will be worth your every second.
