Tasik Kenyir is an artificial lake located in Hulu Terengganu, Malaysia that was formed in 1985 by the building of the Kenyir River dam. The lake provides water to the Sultan Mahmud Power Station. It is the largest man-made lake in South East Asia with an area of 260,000 hectares, but due to it’s vast size you can easily mistaken it for a work of Mother Nature.
Taman Herba – Visitors will find a large collection of herbs in Taman Herba Pulau Sah Kecil which is a new tourist destination in Kenyir Lake. Most tourists come here to see the herbs that have been used throughout the Nusantara period. The herbs date back more than 600 years before the first modern medicines arrived in the Malay world by Arab traders who were also responsible for the spreading of the Islamic teachings within South East Asia, making the Nusantara the worlds most important trade area from the 13th century till the end of the 15th century.
Lasir Waterfall is located around 16 km from Pengkalan Gawi, and is one of the more popular picnic spots in Tasik Kenyir. With a majestic fall of some 500 feet, Lasir Waterfall drops gracefully onto a multi-tiered level of boulders and rocks forming cooling cascading showers and foaming white sprays of water. This waterfall is well shaded by the leafy green canopy of the surrounding tropical rainforest. Tracks and walkways have been built and climbing up to the top offers spectacular breathtaking views.
